My Approach
As a solicitor and litigator with 19 years of experience across several speciality areas, I have created my own four-step process to guide you through your separation journey.
Step 1
The first step starts with a commitment to understanding your personal circumstances, relationship status (with your ex and your children), and the outcomes you want to achieve. We will also cover off your financial position, negotiables and non-negotiables, and your budget. How can I provide the best possible strategy if I don’t seek to understand why you are, where you are, and your life goals?
Step 2
The next step is all about education and information. To make fully informed decisions about your future, you need to understand family law and procedural law. After gauging your current understanding of the law and legal system, I will fill in any gaps you may have before explaining the processes and timelines, and what will be considered by the court throughout your family law journey.
Step 3
Step three focuses on the pathways and options available to you, including the advantages and disadvantages of each, so you can make the best choice for your circumstances. At this point, I will provide a list of all options available to you, with my recommended strategy and rationale included on regard to your financial position and parenting situation. It’s important that we circle back to your goals and budget here, so we can ensure your strategy meets your initial expectations.
Step 4
The final step involves implementing this strategy, so we can reach the best possible resolution for you and your family. This is where the rubber hits the road. To do this, you will need to understand the legal avenues available to you, and that if you and your ex cannot come to a decision together, the court may have to intervene. We will work closely to achieve your personal and financial goals, as best we can.
